Mosaic masters are represented in Stara Zagora
The Third National Biennale “The Mosaic Today” will be held in Stara Zagora from June 29 to July 2, 2018. Organizers of the event are the Municipality of Stara Zagora and Art Mosaic. “With the organization of the Biennial and exhibition, more people can experience this art, an almost forgotten form, in our country. Let the г take its worthy place in fine arts, repeat its historical function as an architectural element as part of the interior and exterior furnishings, “the organizers say.
An exhibition of their works will be opened on June 29 at 17.30 in the foyer of the Municipality of Stara Zagora. Traditionally, during the Biennale, all the participants make a common artwork piece that remains in Stara Zagora. This year they will make a mosaic panel “Lunar Nursing Lion” on an original, unique stone plate from the IX-X century, opened for viewing in the area today in Stara Zagora. This is also the main element of the city’s contemporary coat of arms.
Stara Zagora was chosen as host of the National Biennial. Here are found and preserved ancient mosaics, including the unique “Dionysius procession”. The idea of the organizers is a revival of this art that originated in ancient Babylon.
Today mosaics are one of the most interesting products available for interior and exterior architecture. Due to their versatility and complex craftsmanship, mosaics are a preferred interior element – their spectacular presence creates a different and unique atmosphere in any room or building. Today, the mosaic turns ordinary objects from everyday life into works of art touching the senses and striking with its remarkable effect and allusions.
